Yes, Jesus "had a mouth" on him. His mouth was directed to the hypocrites leading his religion not to the humble Jews who suffered under their hammer.
Nuance.

Christian Arrogance
by startingover inmaybe arrogance is not the right word but i can find no other that describes what i see.
the idea expressed by some christians on this board is that somehow god specifically chose them.
i'll quote perry as an example as his post inspired this thread.

Arrogance is not limited to the religious. Not a few politicians are also arrogant and believing their course is the only right one will steam ahead with it though many oppose them.
Believing their course is the right course they would risk, and lose, thousands of lives in ventures which later have proven foolhardy. Yet, they stand in Congress and do not flinch, they do not admit to error.
Arrogance is not limited to the religious. If we are not careful we ourselves can fall into the same thinking; that what we believe is the ONLY way to believe, the ONLY way to think, and therefore the ONLY right way.
Nuance is important. Open thinking is important.

You mixing me up with someone who gives a flying fart what you think.
BJ Thomas was playing, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head. Thus the umbrella. Flying farts is an interesting analogy. ;)

To call an individual a derogatory name is one thing but to designate a derogatory name to an entire class of people that is called bigotry, prejudice.
To say that religious people have done the same and so it is fine and dandy to do as they have done is childish and gives evidence that the claim to have learned something is false.
To, all too conveniently, clump all Christians living today with what some Christians have done in the past is a school yard game which should be left in the school yard after we grow up. "Johnny's dad is a murderer, it's okay to throw stones at a murderer's son he'll probably do the same, they all do"...is the talk of children.
The Nazis were brutal but I can find it within me to forgive and forget as did my father. It was war and war does things to people. It would be a fine thing if we could all say that we would act rationally during war time but, would we?
What I can't forgive is christians and religion. This isn't wartime. This is peacetime and yet, they act in ways that are totally unacceptable. There again, they always have.
Forgive the Nazis but not Christians- should be the rallying cry for all who want to close their minds to reality. People are people. They go wrong, they go right. They ALL do!!
To Lurking JWs:
If we are learning to put down the JW black and white thinking why should we take up another black and white thinking? Where is the lesson in that? We will find ourselves in the same mental prison but with another name on the building. I would hope that lurking JWs do not go the way of imitating a xenophobic kind of thinking where all who are not with us are against us. If you are a questioning JW stay away from black and white thinking. It never works, it never helps us get to a better place. Black and white thinking leads to another cell block not true freedom of thought and understanding.
Be Inclusive, not Exclusive.

Father's day approaching, can we get some respect.
by James Mixon infather's day got its start in unlikely spot.. commentary robert rector.
moms have been worshipped since time immemorial.
dad not so much.. to hear tell, the first father's day was held in spokane, wash., in 1910.. the suggestion of a father's day was often met with laughter, but when.

In our house Mom and Dad were equal: neither of them received a card for Mother's day or Father's day. Mom, a JW, thought it good, Dad had to put up with it. Being a child in a "divided household" was hard, at times unbearable.
My Dad never understood and it is just today that I'm coming to understand myself. Today, I understand that it was just a day for Dads and nothing more. It was not wrong. But it's too late to tell my Dad this. Sorry Dad, I did not mean to hurt you though I know I did.
Your son, Frank.

Very Offensive Statement Directed To JW Parents-Watchtower 4/15/2015 Page 11 Paragraph 9
by JW GoneBad inwt is insinuating, worse yet, blaming senior jw parents for there not being more younger brothers reaching out to be ministerial servants and elders.
page 11 paragraph 9 reads as follows: .
"elders in affluent lands may face an added challenge: how to motivate baptized brothers in their 20s or 30s to get involved in congregation activities.

The Watchtower loves stupid. The more I learn about my religion the more I see that "stupid" is/was the order of the day. Some days I feel like jumping off a cliff but for the fact that I love my God and my family!

All Christians Should Accept EVOLUTION
by FusionTheism init is time for christians to accept evolution, in my opinion.. there are many reasons why i think it is long overdue for all christians to finally accept what science says about evolution.
below i will show these reasons.. .
the bible tells people to pay attention to nature to see the glory of god (psalm 19; romans 1:19-20).

There are some things we know for a certainty. These things will always be true.
Evolution is one of these things.
I hope some day to meet and discuss all this stuff in person. Until then I'm your friend, (if you would have me) even though we are at different ends of a spectrum.
